AutogrillIt's special in my memories! The first Autogrill opened on the national territory wasWest Villoresi, autostrada dei Laghi, the one I used to travel along as a child, from my house on Lake Orta, to Milan to reach my grandparents.
The Autogrill Villoresi, inaugurated in 1958, has become, over the years, the most photographed in the world. I was born, alas, shortly after that year, on Sunday trips to Milan I would leave fasting because I 'took the car' and right at the gates of Milan the stop at the Autogrill was special!
The classic cooked ham sandwich was my comfort food, unforgettable!
Quality, fragrance and Italian tradition, a guarantee in short.
The stop was always a different experience and we children were enchanted among the shelves admiring the offer of products and all the new ones that could not be found in the province.
In 2020 this Autogrill was renovated with innovative materials and circular economy, preserving the original architecture and the spirit of Autogrill while evolving and keeping up with the times.
How is all this possible?
I discovered it at Factory Food Designers, in the Autogrill headquarters, just outside Milan.
This is where the top experts in the food sector meet and discuss ideas.
Nutritionists, starred Chefs, Pastry Chefs, Pizza masters, plant-based Chefs and professional tasters collaborate with Autogrill to maintain high quality, considering seasonal and regional trends, varieties, aromas and raw materials that are the heritage of our beautiful country.
So during our stops at the airport, station or motorway, at Autogrill we find the proposals of the pizza master Renato Bosco.
How many times have you tasted the Reginella sandwich (with mortadella, stracciatella and chopped pistachios)? And the Spizzico pizzas?
If you love first courses, did you know that the starred Chef Andrea Ribaldone has developed some super appetizing proposals for Autogrill?
Try the shaken pastes that make the dishes incredibly creamy.
Many variations are offered ... Naples, Genoa or Milan ... saffron mezze maniche with ossobuco ragù and lemon zest for example.
Even the gourmet risottos will win you over.
If your mood is vegetarian, you will find the taste and well-being proposals of Chef Simone Salvini super inviting. Pokè and Wow Burger with colorful and tasty vegetable hummus (beetroot/beans, pumpkin, peas and cauliflower/sesame) will amaze you.
In Autogrill you will find the pastry signed by Pastry Chef of the caliber of Luca Montersino. Scenographic desserts that exalt the tradition and the Italian excellence.
In short, in addition to the iconic sandwiches and the classic coffee/cappuccino and croissant, at Autogrill you will find a vast and quality offering that is constantly evolving.
Just think of the new AMORE format, already present in two Autogrill (Montepulciano Est and Badia al Pino Ovest), with table service.
Soon we will find Amore in many other Autogrills and I can't wait to sit at the table!
